Daron Williams, Tom Harding and Greg Robinson of RAW Plumbing and HeatingRAW Plumbing and Heating Ltd has installed a heating system in a Shropshire village hall as part of a Lottery Grant refurbishment.  The installation comprises a Main System 28 Eco, a 150 litre Main cylinder, radiators and a rainwater harvesting system for flushing the toilets.

Daron Williams of RAW explains: "The village of Harmer Hill was granted Lottery funding to refurbish its village hall and make a great facility for everyone to use.  The architect had recommended installing a combi boiler; however we felt that a system boiler and storage cylinder would be more appropriate for the building's heating and hot water needs.

"The installation we designed includes a secondary return because it's more energy efficient - there's no dead leg of water going cold.

"A boiler room was created, with independent access so that servicing and maintenance of the boiler can be carried out without having to go into the hall itself.  We labelled and numbered all the pipes and valves and put a key up on the wall, so it is easy to identify which is which in the event that someone needs to turn something off.”

Mr Russell Purslow is on the Village Hall Committee.  He says: "I have had previous experience of RAW's workmanship, so I knew they would do a good job for us, but this installation has exceeded our expectations.  We are really impressed with the set-up, and the recommendations they made, such as extra insulation, may have cost us a little more but have really proved their worth.”

Greg Robinson and Daron Williams set up RAW Plumbing and Heating Ltd in 2004, and, along with colleague Tom Harding, a commercial pipefitter and welder, carry out domestic and commercial jobs across Shropshire.  "We first tried a Main boiler three years ago,” reflects Greg, "liked it, and have been using them ever since.  We were keen to have a boiler and cylinder from the same manufacturer, so were delighted when the Main cylinder was introduced.

"In this business, you're only as good as your last installation, so we need products we can trust,” he adds.

RAW has more lottery grant work to do on village halls in Shropshire, as well as regular maintenance, repairs, servicing and installation work for letting agents in the county.  It also carries out specialist camera inspections on drains.

Main boilers and cylinders are only available through independent merchants, and are competitively priced and straightforward to install and service.  The Main Combi Eco is available in outputs of 25 and 30 kW, and the Main System Eco has outputs of 24 and 28 kW.  The Main cylinder is available in capacities of 120, 150, 170, 210, 250 and 300 litres.

Main offers free of charge training for boilers, and all products are backed by technical support and service from heateam.
