St Helens captain still believes in teamwork

'Wide to West' rugby league hero Chris Joynt, one of the most successful captains of St Helens, believes you're only as good as the team around you, "and it's exactly the same in business”, he says.

A well known personality in an area that is passionate about rugby league, Chris is now in partnership with Albert Wood, and their companies, Heat Spares and Plumbing Supplies ltd and Sure Fire Heating and Maintenance ltd, supply and install quality heating products in and around St Helens.

Chris explains how he got into the plumbing business.  "When I retired from rugby in 2004, I had a small property development company.  The biggest outlay was for plumbing, so, like the Remington guy, I bought the business!

"A winning business is like a winning team - you all pull together, supported by the best facilities and products - and this ethos has made our business really successful.

"Building relationships with both customers and suppliers is part of the winning formula.  Our relationship with Main started because they helped us out with a pump, then we sold one boiler and it just escalated.  The products they supply are great quality for the price, and they give us really good support.

"Our customers really like the new Main Eco Band A boilers, and when they try the new Main cylinder, they are converted and won't go back to their old brand.”

Chris still has links with rugby league and is in training to undertake the Carnegie Challenge as part of a star-studded team of ex-professional players.  The gruelling challenge will see them cycle 700 miles across France, cross the English Channel in a dragon boat and run a half marathon to deliver the match ball to Wembley in time for the Carnegie Challenge Cup final in August.  The team is raising money for the Steve Prescott Foundation which supports the RFL Benevolent Fund and the Christie Cancer Centre.  If you would like to sponsor the team, you can donate at www.steveprescottfund.co.uk/donate
